Not just a great grocery store, this is the best Whole Foods Market I've ever been to. I've lived in many cities around this country and I have shopped at Whole Foods Markets in all of them. I have chronic Lyme Disease, which requires that I eat organic, healthy foods. The selection they have is great. There are lots of alternative-type foods, including Lactose free milk, yogurt, cream cheese, and sour cream, a nice gluten free bread selection, and lesser-known nut bean flours. What I really love about this Whole Foods, though, is the staff. The atmosphere in the store is so congenial. People seem to genuinely enjoy working there, which, for a grocery store, even a Whole Foods Market is rare. I have often seen staff sharing a joke, helping each other out, or engaged in a meaningful conversation while they stack shelves together. It makes the atmosphere there really nice. People are also incredibly helpful and friendly whenever I check out or whenever I'm looking for something. I'm so grateful that the store is here and that the atmosphere is welcoming because without it, my health and well-being would suffer.
This store has a good selection of bake goods, organic / herbal medicines, beer, meat, and other organic / hard to find foods. The price of food here is obviously more expensive than other grocery stores like Meijer. The employees are friendly and the store has a good atmosphere. Fresh Thyme is a similar shopping venue.
The restroom is nice and clean.
I like the store, the staffs are very friendly, the food selections are great and the price is not the issue. I gave it one star only because of one bad experience with seafood purchase, most of the fish that we bought was very good. However, the grouper purchased we made was terrible. Once I got home and opened the package the strong smell of amonia made me sick. I went back and explained it to the guy behind the counter and he just acted like that was the normal smell for grouper. He then said, we lived in Indiana and we will never get fish that fresh. I understand we do not lived next to the ocean, I do however purchase fish every week and have never had this experience before. It was a $55 grouper purchase that went straight to the trash.
The bakery is the best and least healthy part of Whole Foods. Really good treats. I think they have a fair cheese selection and there are some quirkier items that you may not be able to find anywhere else in Mishawaka/South Bend - but places like Meijer are starting to catch up.
My first time there...was nervous because I was looking for all new things I've never bought and then there was Joe in the meat department. Took his time and explained everything and more. Was patient with me and definitely was a rock star...I'll be back often. Thank u...
