Good for you, Denise! Sounds like you have no concern for the patients!
In spite of my son signing a HIPPA release to talk to me and a request to have the doctor call me, they never talked to me in the 10 days he has been there. When he told me he was being discharged, I called the "social worker" to discuss discharge care/after plan. I was in fact calling to give her info on a potential psychiatric practice that might take him if they faxed his records. We have a crucial shortage of psychiatrists. She was rude, unhelpful, and indicated they only refer to community mental health. I pointed out to her that in his state of residence community mental health does not work with private insurance. She acknowledged that they had not responded to her and he did not have an after care appointment but that he should just go to walk in hours. I'm not sure which part of they don't work with private insurance she was unable to comprehend. She was dismissive and simply said are you picking him up or should I arrange transportation back to his home state. I then called the ward, talked to him, he talked to the doctors who I could hear in the background being extremely rude to him. "Do you have Medicaid or Medicare"? Blue Cross. After much back and forth discussion they did take the information and said they would fax his records to the practice whose information I provided to them. They told him he could not be discharged without an outpatient appointment even though they had been telling him for days he was being discharged when in fact they did NOT have an appointment for him. I was simply trying to be helpful knowing our local situation and extreme shortage of psychiatrists. Nobody I talked to wanted to be "bothered", were argumentative, rude, and unhelpful. There seemed to be NO communication between the "medical" staff and social work staff. Also, since they had no background medical records from years and years of treatment I gave them his latest inpatient records and psychiatrist records recommending he NOT take the medication they put him on. They continued it anyway and are discharging him on it. The state of mental health care is so ridiculously poor in this country. Any other illness and they would be sued for malpractice. We simply do not care about people with mental illness and addiction problems. I no longer feel sorry for society when people with mental health imbalances commit horrific acts. It is a by-product of treating these illnesses as a "choice" people make, providing inadequate care or no care at all, stigmatizing them, and sweeping them under a rug. They are the victims from everything I have observed over the last decade and the rest of society should be ashamed.
This is NOT a hospital, its a stright up phys ward. The website says there is 1.3 patients per staff, that is total bs. There are 16 patients per 2 rn and 2 cna. I came in unexpected to sign my mom out. She was crying and covered in her own waste. This place is horrible. Not willing to work with at home care when mom,was relaesed. Please do NOT send your loved ones here. They lie everytime they open they speak.
I worked for this speciality hospital and despite bad reviews, I LOVED it there! I loved my boss, Rachel, the exceptionally hard working and intelligent Director of Human Resources that outworks any man in the same position (wink)... I loved Christy and Cameron Gilbert and feel they have really worked very hard to achieve a niche no one else fills! Christy and Cameron work themselves 24/7. They are exceptional owners and bosses and everyone is focused on patient care! I'm sorry if others did not enjoy their experience there but honestly... you get what you put into any employer! Work hard for that company and the rewards are outstanding! When I get the chance I'll go back because the core group of coworkers made is so enjoyable to work with them!
Violations of Hipa rights on a daily basis. No value for human rights by staff and patients violated hospital rules all the time. Would give this hospital 0 stars if possible .
