I went into Ross earlier this evening with my children and nieces intending on going out and buying them all dresses for their school graduations. We got all our dresses together and headed towards the changing room. I asked the attendant Tasha if we could take the cart in considering I had 5 children with me and only clothing. She stated that the carts would not fit in the changing rooms. I told her in a very non argumentative tone that we use the handicap stall and they fit fine. Then she quickly changed her reasoning and said that carts are not allowed back in the changing rooms. Which is fine(even though there are no signs and I frequent this ross and have never had an issue before) I then nicely told her that my son who is 3 and was sitting in the cart is disable and it would make it significantly easier on us to keep him in the cart. And she snapped back at me and said "Well if he's old enough to walk, he needs to walk!" Appalled, I asked for her name and carried him into the changing room with me. Upon leaving, I spoke with the manager and he apologized briefly for the encounter and reiterated that, that is their company policy. I asked him if my son had been in a wheelchair if they would of stopped me and made me carry him into the dressing room? He said no. Then I asked if I had brought him in, in a stroller if they would of stopped me and he said no again. There are strong laws regarding discrimination against a disabled person and I cannot imagine someone being such a awful person that they feel the need to be rude towards a 3yr old in front of other small children. I am beyond disgusted with my experience. I work in customer service and would never speak to someone in the hateful tone and context like I was spoken to especially not when it was aimed at a child with disabilities. Company policy is something I can understand and stand behind completely. However telling me one thing and then another then being completely rude is ridiculous!
Great deals on tons of brands but store is mess! Looks like a tornado went through every isle.
Great prices! Think the security guard manning the fitting room was a little excessive, lol.
